After many years of waiting Xiaomi had finally launched their Mi Notebooks in India with Mi Notebook 14 and Mi Notebook 14 Horizon edition. Here we will talk about Mi Notebook 14 Horizon edition which starts at ₹54,999 and the higher variant at ₹59,999.

Built and Design

Right if the bat the first thing you will notice when you look at it is how minimal the design is. It got a smooth finish metal unibody construction much like Macbook .
There is no branding on the top, just a logo on the bottom of the display. Once you open this you will again get reminded of Macbook due to same form factor.

Display

It's a 14inch display with very minimal bezeless in all sides. It's an anti-glare display which is excellent when you are working inside your room. You can view the full display without any reflections of light bulbs. It got 16:9 aspect ratio with a refresh rate of 60Hz and a 1920×1080p resolution. The brightness is 215nits which might which might term out to be a problem in certain cases like outdoor works.
Keyboards and track pad 
Just under the keyboard you get a fairly large glass trackpad. It does support multitouch inout and also gestures so can use your fingers for different commands and it works really smooth as well.
Here you get a chicklet style keyboard which is very nicely laid out. This has a good amount of key travel also.

Ports 

On the right side you get a USB Cport along with two USB 3.0 port ,a full size HDMI and charger port.
On the left side you can see airvents along with along with USB 2.0 and a 3.5mm jack. 
Speakers
You get 2×2Watts stereo speakers and DTS audio processing.

Processor and Storage

It is powered by Intel 10th gen corei7 U series processor with Nvidia MX 350GPU. The GPU has 2GB of DDR5 RAM. As for the processor it can give you great battery life of about 10-12h but at the cost of power. So if you are a heavy user then this will disappoint you.
 As for the Notebook you will get 2666MHz 8GB DDR4 RAM, 512GB SSD storage which has a speed of 3,000 Mbps data writing speed. 

OS

This Mi Notebook has Windows 10 home edition and 1  month trial of Office 365. It has some other features like Xiaomi smart share which allows you to transfer files easily from your Xiaomi devices to your laptop. You can connect your mi band with your laptop to unlock it without any password.

Final Verdict.

The few things that bother me are listed below

No inbuilt webcam. It does comes with additional webcam but you have to carry it with yourself everywhere for video calls.
No fingerprint scanner so you have to unlock your laptop with password and due to no inbuilt webcam no face unlock also. 
The charger is dedicated for this laptop only so you have to always carry it with yourself which is not ideal for any 2020 laptop of this price. If it had USB C charging then it would have been much better.
The display is not good for videos editing as the videos and pics looses some of the colours. And the brightness is also not much high.
The U series processor are not good for gaming and video editing. So if you are a content creator then look for some other options. 
It has no RAM upgrade slot and the given RAM is soldered with the laptop. So to upgrade your RAM you have to go to service center.
So after all this I can say that this Notebook is for those who does normal office work or are causal user. But for gamers and Video editors this is not recommended.
